FreeWheel Wheelchair Attachment

The FreeWheel Wheelchair Attachment from comes with everything you need to Get Out & Go! Whether you have a rigid frame or a folding wheelchair, the FreeWheel is your ticket to Freedom, Independence, and increased Mobility.

With the FreeWheel your wheelchair casters are lifted off the ground, turning your chair into a 3-wheeler, so you simply roll over any obstacle: dirt trails, curbs, grass, gravel, snow, and even sand. No more wasting energy and slowing down to pop a wheelie.

FreeWheel Attachment Specifications:

  • Installation: The initial installation may take approximately 15 minutes, after that the FreeWheel clamps on and off in seconds.
  • Footrest Height: If the height of your footrest is over 4-3/4" you may require a custom frame FreeWheel. See additional information below.
  • Footrest Angle: If the angle of your footrest is more than 12% the FreeWheel may not work. Please contact us for more information.
  • Frame & Fork: Made from strong, aircraft quality aluminum means your FreeWheel comes with a Satisfaction Guarantee. The unique patented design adds strength and means there are no sharp edges to catch on anyone or anything.
  • Clamp: The precisely engineered vise like connection allows you to confidentially attach your FreeWhee for a secure fit and excellent handling.
  • Wheel: The large front wheel has less resistance than small casters and makes it easier to roll on any surface, whether you are alone, or someone is helping you.
  • Detent: This mechanism keeps the front wheel straight to improve stability and handling. By applying slight pressure, it will release, allowing you to quickly and easily turn in any direction.
  • Perch: Attach the included perch onto your crossbar behind your seat back and clamp your FreeWheel onto it when you need to stow it. This allows you to have your FreeWheel literally at your finger tips and also, keeps it out of the way when you don't. My FreeWheel is with me 24/7 so, I can be ready for anything.
  • Restrictions: The FreeWheel works on solid rigid-frame footrests that are a maximum of 4-3/4" off the ground. If your footrest is "angled" (footrest higher in front than in the back) it must be angled no more than 12 degrees for the FreeWheel to clamp securely to your chair.
  • Not compatible with Flip Up Foot Plates.

Custom Frames:

Standard wheelchair frames have a distance of 4-3/4" from the top of the footrest to the floor. If your chair has a greater distance, please choose the correct measurements from the option dropdown above. If you are in between sizes, choose the smaller size. Example: If your measurement is 7". Choose the 6-1/2" option/

Get Out & Go w/ the FreeWheel Attachment
I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with the Freewheel. I'm a 21 year chair user and have done some cool stuff in my day, but I've never pushed along a beach..and I live right by one. Within minutes of attaching the FreeWheel I was easily strolling along the beach with my girlfriend and now make it a regular part of my week. Thanks Patrick for bring such a great product to market. It truly allows me to Get Out & Go! Anywhere!

I own a FreeWheel
It did take a little help from my brother to get the height adjusted for my particular chair but once it was done, it worked just as advertised. I am going to get a SmartDrive with my new wheelchair which is on order right now, and I look forward to seeing how it works in my yard with both. Thank you for your excellent invention!

Great product but bends foot plate. Did adjustments accordingly but when taking out for test run, it bends foot plate. Will be contacting manufacture for resolution. Other then that, this product is the best to get around places you can't go normally with your wheelchair. Because of that, I still give it a 4 star. I never give 5 stars unless product goes beyond expectations.
